Neuroplasticity

Also known as: Brain plasticity

The brain's ability to rewire itself by forming and strengthening connections in response to learning, experience or injury.

Plasticity is why BCI users get better with practice: the brain adapts to the decoder just as the decoder adapts to the brain. It also underpins rehabilitation BCIs, which pair a patient’s movement intention with feedback to help recovery after stroke.
