BCI-Sonics raises about $28 million for focused-ultrasound brain interfaces in China
HongShan and Yunqi led the Pre-A round for the Shanghai start-up, which pairs ultrasound stimulation with multimodal brain readouts.
Shanghai-based BCI-Sonics has raised a RMB 200 million (about $28 million) Pre-A round led by HongShan and Yunqi Partners. Founded by Li Xin, previously at GE Healthcare’s China research center, the company is developing low-intensity transcranial focused ultrasound for brain stimulation, paired with readouts from functional ultrasound, EEG, fMRI and PET.
It is the latest of several large bets on ultrasound BCIs, alongside Gestala in China (our coverage) and Merge Labs in the US.
