Universal Brain's EEG baseball cap cleared to measure brain function in psychiatry
The UB ERP system records task-based EEG responses with dry electrodes and produces results in under five minutes.
San Francisco-based Universal Brain has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its UB ERP System: a dry-electrode EEG wearable styled like a baseball cap, plus software that records event-related potentials (brain responses during a short attention task). It produces a brain-function score that can be tracked over time, with setup to results in under five minutes. The company is running depression studies to test whether the score can guide treatment choice and track response.
Psychiatry lacks objective biological measures, and quick, easy EEG tools are one approach to filling that gap.
