Medtronic to acquire SPR Therapeutics for about $650 million
SPR's SPRINT PNS is a 60-day peripheral nerve stimulation therapy for pain that doesn't require a permanent implant.
Medtronic has agreed to acquire SPR Therapeutics for about $650 million in cash upfront. SPR makes the SPRINT PNS system, a 60-day peripheral nerve stimulation therapy for pain that uses a temporary, fine-wire lead instead of a permanent implant. The deal is expected to close in the first half of Medtronic’s 2027 fiscal year.
It is the third major neuromodulation acquisition in about seven months, after Boston Scientific’s purchases of Nalu Medical and Valencia Technologies, as large device makers compete for less invasive pain and nerve therapies.
