Natus point-of-care EEG cleared to help diagnose status epilepticus

The FDA clearance lets BrainWatch, with Persyst AI software, flag continuous seizure activity in emergency and community hospitals.

Natus has received FDA 510(k) clearance for a new use of its BrainWatch point-of-care EEG system: detecting and diagnosing electrographic status epilepticus, ongoing seizure activity that can be invisible without EEG. BrainWatch sets up in under five minutes and uses integrated Persyst analysis software. Natus says the system qualifies for a Medicare new-technology add-on payment.

Rapid EEG matters most in rural and community hospitals that lack on-site epilepsy specialists, where non-convulsive seizures often go undiagnosed.
