The first UK participant in Neuralink’s GB-PRIME study, a man named Paul who has motor neuron disease, was able to move a computer cursor with his thoughts within hours of surgery at UCLH’s National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London. The study, led by consultant neurosurgeon Harith Akram, also involves Newcastle Hospitals and plans to enroll up to seven people.

The UK site is part of Neuralink’s international expansion of its PRIME motor-control trial beyond the US.
