Calibration

Also known as: Decoder training, Recalibration

The training session in which a BCI learns how a specific user's brain activity maps to their intentions.

Users follow cues (attempt to move up, say “hello”) while the system records. Calibration time is a major usability issue. Researchers are working on decoders that recalibrate themselves in the background or transfer between days with little retraining.
