Magstim gets FDA clearance to use magnetic stimulation for chronic pain
The Magstim Rapid can now be used on peripheral nerves for chronic, post-traumatic and post-surgical pain, with no implant or drugs.
The FDA has cleared Magstim’s Rapid magnetic stimulation system for stimulating peripheral nerves to relieve chronic intractable, post-traumatic and post-surgical pain in adults. A coil held over a nerve delivers magnetic pulses through skin and soft tissue to influence pain pathways, without implants, injections or medication.
Magstim is best known for TMS of the brain. The clearance extends magnetic stimulation into pain clinics and rehabilitation settings.
