MagVenture cleared for accelerated TMS: up to 10 sessions a day for depression

The FDA clearance covers compressed rTMS and theta-burst schedules that finish treatment in days rather than weeks.

MagVenture has received FDA 510(k) clearance for accelerated TMS protocols for major depressive disorder in adults. The clearance allows 2 to 10 sessions per day on a condensed schedule, finishing treatment in days rather than the usual six weeks. It covers both repetitive TMS and intermittent theta-burst stimulation, with or without MRI-based neuronavigation.

Accelerated schedules, popularized by Stanford’s SAINT protocol, could make TMS far more practical for patients who can’t attend daily sessions for weeks.
