Newronika's adaptive deep brain stimulator wins CE mark in Europe
AlphaDBS continuously senses brain signals and adjusts stimulation automatically for Parkinson's disease.
Italian company Newronika has received a CE mark for its AlphaDBS system, an adaptive deep brain stimulation platform for Parkinson’s disease. It continuously monitors local field potentials and adjusts stimulation automatically, with a cloud data platform for clinicians. The company describes it as the first approval of its kind for a DBS system that adapts therapy in real time based on patient-specific settings.
Two months later, Newronika implanted the first patient in its US–EU pivotal trial (our coverage).
