BrainCo says it is developing a brain-stimulation wearable to curb appetite
A founding partner told Bloomberg the device could reach the market in two to three years, starting in China. BrainCo has not published data or named a stimulation target.
Hangzhou-based BrainCo is developing a wearable that it says could reduce appetite through brain stimulation, founding partner Nyx He said at a Bloomberg Tech event in London, in an interview published November 3. The company hopes to launch within two to three years, in China first and possibly later in the US, and may offer separate medical and consumer versions. Nyx He called it “effectively an electronic version of GLP-1 obesity drugs.”
That comparison is untested. BrainCo has not disclosed the device’s mechanism or target or published any data, and Inside BCI found no BrainCo-sponsored study on ClinicalTrials.gov. Inside BCI also notes that a 241-person sham-controlled trial of another company’s stimulation headset missed its weight-loss endpoints.
