Cognito Therapeutics and Rhode Island launch a statewide brain health collaboratory
The state's Life Science Hub will work with Cognito, Brown University and local health systems to study and deploy the company's Spectris sensory stimulation platform for Alzheimer's disease.
Cognito Therapeutics and the Rhode Island Life Science Hub, a quasi-public state agency, announced the Rhode Island Brain Health Collaboratory on October 13. The statewide program will evaluate and deploy Cognito’s Spectris platform, which delivers light and sound stimulation at home, for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological conditions. Named partners include Brown University, the University of Rhode Island, Brown University Health, Care New England and Butler Hospital. Plans cover research, clinical implementation and workforce training. No budget or timeline was disclosed.
It is Cognito’s third such partnership, after West Virginia University’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute in 2025 and Ochsner Health earlier this year. Spectris AD remains investigational: it holds an FDA Breakthrough Device designation, and results from the pivotal HOPE trial are still awaited. Cognito, which raised $105 million in March, says it has now raised more than $220 million.
